If you have an extra $2.5 million lying around, you might want to check out Sarah Palin's lavish 8,000 square-foot Arizona mansion.

As reported by Business Insider, the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate bought the house back in 2011 for $1.695 million. The price jump is due to the improvements and remodeling done by Palin, particularly its outdoor amenities.

According to listing agent Richard Barker, "For what they paid for it and what they've put into it, in my opinion, it's priced right."

The almost 5-acre gated compound includes the main 8,000 square-foot main house, a full-size lighted basketball court, a swimming pool, a spa house and even a hot tub.

It was reported that when she purchased the sprawling Arizona property in the northern part of Scottsdale a few years back, Palin used a limited liability company to maintain privacy about the transaction, Forbes has learned.

When asked why she bought the huge estate, Palin joked that, "As Alaskans, we like to thaw out once in a while."

The listing for the property stated that, "This 4.9-acre equestrian estate offers opulence at its finest." And to give an idea what's in store for potential buyers, the humongous mansion features a huge eat-in kitchen, six bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms.

However, the real deal about the property is the outdoor amenities it has. Apart from the basketball court and swimming pool, the estate also has a full-sized volleyball court and even a putting green and bocce ball court. In addition, the future owner of this house won't have a problem storing their cars as it also has a 6-car garage.

The mansion's interior also brings a lot of entertainment areas including a huge living room that even includes a state of the art fireplace. Downstairs, there's also a family room and a bar area for lounging and relaxing.

No need to go to the theatre for entertainment as the Arizona property also includes a purpose-built media room.

Realtor.com noted that there is still plenty of room to take care of household business. The kitchen comes with side-by-side double refrigerators and two ovens, which are enough to cook everything that the future owner can think of.

Right off the kitchen is a laundry room that is more than big enough to accommodate a huge family's dirty laundry.

Last year, Palin's daughter, Bristol, also tried her hand in real-estate when she listed a half-acre property in Alaska for $549,000.

The Alaska property features three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms and has an open kitchen, with concrete counter tops and a master suite with lake views.
