Top Rank Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions have not worked together for the past several years, but the boxing 'cold war' between the two companies could end soon.

The Los Angeles Times reported on Tuesday that Oscar de la Hoya and his former promoter, Bob Arum, recently had a conversation about finally ending their dispute, which has prevented big fights from happening over the last five years.

According to the report, de la Hoya and Arum discussed the possibility of working together for a super fight between Top Rank's biggest star Manny Pacquiao and GBP's top fighter Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.

"Anything's possible," de la Hoya said of the rumored negotiation for the Pacquiao vs Alvarez fight. "That's one of the reasons I was extending the olive branch. The fans want to see these kinds of fights."

Arum also stressed that his relationship with de la Hoya has always been good and that his rift with Golden Boy Promotions were mostly with CEO Richard Schaefer, who is also reportedly having a rocky relationship with de la Hoya himself.

"I'd be happy to talk to Oscar about any subject in boxing he wishes to talk to me about," Arum said. "All this baloney about a cold war has never really applied to Oscar and myself. We can talk about any subject in boxing rationally. We might disagree on a particular point, but we can talk. I hope we'll get together and have some significant meetings in the near future."

And if negotiations became successful, Pacquiao and Alvarez might agree to face each other later this year or early next year.

Alvarez, who will collide with Erislandy Lara on July 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, recently said that he is planning to fight one more time this year.

Pacquiao also said that he is looking for another fight later this year, but the former pound-for-pound king could prioritize a fifth showdown with Juan Manuel Marquez.

The 35-year-old Filipino, who recently reclaimed his WBO welterweight title in his rematch with Timothy Bradley, is reportedly itching to avenge his sixth-round knockout loss to Marquez in their fourth fight in December 2012.
