Ecuador and Peru look to continue their solid starts to the Copa America 2016 when they face off on Wednesday in a big game.

Paolo Guerrero Builds his Legend

Peru is the only team in Group B to have three points after the opening match. The Peruvians played well against Haiti, coming away with a 1-0 win thanks a goal from Paolo Guerrero.

In scoring, Guerrero became the top scorer in Peru's history, notching his 27th tally in his national colors. Moreover, the goal signaled that the star was still ready to contribute to his country the same way he did last year when he was a joint-top scorer in the Copa America with four goals. He was also the top scorer of the 2011 Copa America with five goals and could potentially manage the feat for a third straight tournament. His goal was a true beauty, a diving header off a brilliant cross into the box.

Ecuador Unfortunate in Draw Against Brazil

Ecuador did not managed a win over Brazil despite looking dangerous throughout. However the team did score a goal that was disallowed. Miller Bolanos drove down the right wing and crossed a shot that goaltender Alisson fumbled into his own net. However, the referees decided that the ball had been out of bounds when it had been crossed toward the net.

The decision angered Ecuador's top corps with coach Gustavo Quinteros groaning at the call.

"I just saw the replay several times, and unfortunately the referees again make a mistake in favor of the stronger team," Quinteros said according to ESPN. "In fact, if the play had been on the other side, we doubt very much that the referee would have decided to invalidate that goal.

Player to watch

Paolo Guerrero was one of the best players in last year's tournament and was terrific against Haiti on Saturday. He could very well be a difference maker in this game if he continues his solid play.He has 10 goals in the last three Copa America tournaments.

Early History favors Peru, Recent History sides with Ecuador

The Peruvians hold a record of 19 wins, 14 draws and 15 losses against Ecuador, though Ecuador has only lost two of its last 13 against Peru dating back to 2000. Peru accumulated 10 of its 19 wins over Ecuador between 1938 and 1963 with the Ecuadorians not registering a single win in that span.
