Presidential candidates Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump, will face off at the 2016 presidential debates starting with the September schedule this upcoming month. Moderators will ask each candidate carefully picked questions that will further explain their stance on certain U.S. issues as Clinton and Trump race for a seat in the Oval Office.

Several polls show Hillary Clinton leading in total electoral votes and while the numbers may not change significantly quickly, Trump may have a chance to change the course of the race through the debate. Here is everything you need to know about the 2016 presidential debates, September through October schedule.

Presidential Debates 2016 September Schedule

The first presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump is scheduled for Monday Sept. 26 at Hofstra University beginning at 9 p.m. ET.

The second clash will take place on Oct. 9, a showdown at Washington University. The final scheduled meeting between the major-party candidates is slated for Oct. 19, on the campus of the University of Nevada at Las Vegas.

Hofstra stepped in to host the first presidential debate of 2016 after Wright University withdrew because of a low budget issue. The first debate will be divided into six time segments of about 15 minutes each where the moderator will ask questions on major topics that will be announced a week prior to the first presidential debate of 2016.

“Hosting a presidential debate is an extraordinary opportunity to inspire our students to embrace their power and responsibility as citizens to engage in the democratic process,” Hofstra president Stuart Rabinowitz said. “As we saw when we had the honor of hosting debates in 2008 and 2012, giving students the chance to hear from policymakers, journalists and scholars across the ideological spectrum is an essential part of their participation in these historic events.”

Presidential Debate Moderators 2016

Moderators for the 2016 presidential debates have not been selected as of yet. Issues of finding someone who is not biased have come up in the selection process but sources tell CNNMoney that the Commission on Presidential Debates plan to announce the first presidential debate moderator after Labor Day.

Given Trump’s attacks on the media, there is concern about moderators being accused of bias by conservatives, and of Trump attacking a moderator or undermining their credibility during the debate.

The billionaire has already accused the Democrats of tampering with the presidential debate schedules in a July 29 tweet.

“As usual, Hillary & the Dems are trying to rig the debates so 2 are up against major NFL games,” Trump tweeted. “Same as last time w/ Bernie. Unacceptable!”

The Commission made the presidential debates schedule last year, where the first presidential debate is scheduled on Monday Night Football when the Atlanta Falcons are set to play against the New Orleans Saints.
