Despite reports that Ragnar Lathbrok will be killed off following the aftermath of his fall during "Vikings Season 4", the show's creator and writer, Michael Hirst, has denied these speculations. Hirst also confirmed that Lagertha will live for "Vikings Season 5."

Fans of the history show kept on wondering whether Travis Fimmel will reprise Ragnar for another season but all these queries now should be relieved as his return for "Vikings Season 5" was officially confirmed. Just as the doubt for the fate of Ragnar looms, the demise of Katheryn Winnick's Lagertha was also rumored.

This was because of the events in the finale of the fourth season wherein Lagartha was stabbed in her chest. Since she was not featured on flash-forward, thus, no mentions of her condition on "Vikings Season 5", fans quickly concluded that Lagertha could be dead, reported Mobile&Apps.

"There was a fan in New York who wrote to me years ago and she said, 'I don't care how many of the male characters you kill off, but if you do anything to Lagertha, you're in trouble.'So I'm very careful about that warning," Hirst said, as quoted by the publication.

Apparently, Hirst intends to heed this fan's warning, but the real question still lingers on whether Ragnar will be able to keep his throne. If rumors are to be believed, either one of Ragnar's son will take over. Rumors about the upcoming character of Jonathan Rhys Meyers that is set to debut in "Vikings Season 5" will rival the family of Ragnar.

As it has been revealed that Meyers will not play a Viking, speculations are he will play a villain instead. Many fans believe that this upcoming character will be an iconic one for putting an end to the era of Ragnar Lathbrok, reported ANN.

"Vikings Season 5" has no premiere date yet but is expected to arrive on History Channel sometime in 2017. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
