Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach believes that Miguel Cotto will overcome the size disadvantage in his upcoming showdown with Sergio Martinez on June 7 at the Madison Square Garden in New York.

Cotto will be facing Martinez, who will enjoy a three-inch height advantage and familiarity with the weight division, for the Argentine's WBC middleweight title.

But when asked about Cotto's chances in his upcoming title fight, Roach is convinced that the Puerto Rican former champion, who will be fighting at the middleweight division for the first time, will be able to push Martinez around.

"Well, we moved up the weight a little bit and put on more muscle. I think he may actually be taller and he will be stronger on the inside and much more physical on the inside than Martinez is, and we are going to push him around with no problem. I think on the inside we are the bigger, stronger fighter," Roach said via BoxingScene.

Cotto had his best days at 140 and 147 as he was known as one of the hardest punchers in those divisions.

Boxing analysts are questioning whether or not Cotto will be as powerful as he was before now that he will be fighting at the 159 pounds, but the 33-year-old Puerto Rican is confident that he can carry his power to the middleweight division.

"When you are a guy with power no matter where you are going you are going to carry that power with you," Cotto said via BoxingScene. "I'm here doing my best in the training camp, and I know what I am capable of doing when I get in the ring on June 7."

Cotto, who is coming off a third-round knockout win against Delvin Rodriguez in October last year, also sounded like he is not planning to go anywhere near the catchweight on fight night, saying that he will step on the ring at the weight that he is very comfortable with.

"I am going to go in the ring at the weight that is most comfortable for me," Cotto said. "It doesn't necessarily have to be 159. I am going to be comfortable. I have going to be happy. I am going to do my best."
