India's upcoming high-speed train project that will connect the two major cities is the first in the country with the speed of 350km per hour. The drilling of the seven kilometers undersea route of the Mumbai to Ahmedabad is still in progress to find out the soil condition.

According to India, the Railway Ministry official said that the soil and rocks underneath 70-meter deep sea are being tested as a component of the geotechnical and geophysical examination attempted for the whole project. The official added that the test will likewise cover the 21-km long underground passage among Thane and Virar.

The Financial Express added that the railroad settled on an elevated corridor to maintain the strategic distance from land acquisitions and the need to assemble underpasses. Officials said that the passage was required to protect the thick vegetation around the area.

The evaluated cost of the project is Rs 97, 636 crores, 81 percent of the financing for the project will drop by a method of credit from Japan. The project cost includes possible cost heightening, interest during development, and import obligations.

The overview is probably going to be trailed by the final location survey to check the alignment and correct spots for the columns on which trains will keep running at higher speed to reduce the traveling time among Mumbai and Ahmedabad radically. Currently, it takes around seven hours to go beyond the two cities and the bullet train plans to lessen it to about two hours.

The development of the passage is expected to begin in 2018 and estimated to be finished by the year 2023. JICA agreed to support that 81 percent of the total project cost through a 50-year loan with an interest loan fee of 0.1 percent and a ban on reimbursement up to 15 years.
