Square Enix has confirmed that "A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV" will be free for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One starting March 1. The game which was previously a pre-order exclusive for "Final Fantasy XV" can be downloaded through the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store.

"A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV" is a side-scroller game and it is an action game with retro style graphics. According to the overview, the "Final Fantasy XV" prequel game takes place way before the time of Noctis and his friends.

Gematsu reports that "A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV" will feature Noctis' father, King Regis. The King along with Weskham, Clarus and Cid will fight monsters who are invading the Kingdom of Lucis 30 years before the events of "Final Fantasy XV."

The Square Enix side-scroller will feature a Deep Combat System which focuses on real-time fast-paced gaming which reacts to combos, counters and tactics. "A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV" will also feature the companionship, friendship and combined attack of King Regis and his friends.

Additionally, no "Final Fantasy" title is complete without its signature Magic and Summons features. "A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV" will have fire, ice and lightning magic as well as summons for Astral entities to aid the King and his companions against monsters.

It is not known why Square Enix decided to make "A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV" free for PS4 and Xbox One gamers. Techno Buffalo reports that the spinoff game may just be a little extra that the company did for "Final Fantasy XV" fans. The outlet adds that not a lot of buzz was generated by the game online.
