George RR Martin's next book, "Winds of Winter" for his "A Song of Ice and Fire" saga may not get 2017 release as expected. The author admits in a recent interview that he has been busy with other projects which have kept the book delayed for years.

It's been more than five years since the fifth book "A Dance of Dragons" was released. George RR Martin said in an interview with Time that he has made some progress to "Winds of Winter." He even said at that time that he hopes to release the book by this year.

Fans of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series have been waiting for George RR Martin's sixth book as there have been many questions that are waiting to be answered. They had hoped that "Winds of Winter" will bring more clarity to what is currently happening in the books.

However, it seems George RR Martin may not be able to fulfill the promise of releasing "Winds of Winter" this year. Cinema Blend reports that the author has started his Stagecoach Foundation film studio in New Mexico.

The outlet adds that they will be using the Stagecoach Foundation to create Hollywood movies and projects with filmmakers. It is their hope that George RR Martin's film studio will attract more projects to the city. It is not known if George RR Martin will be able to continue working on "Winds of Winter" now that he has new things going on.

The HBO series "Game of Thrones" is based on George RR Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" sage and it has been announced that its final season will end in 2018. Fans are hoping to read "Winds of Winter" before then although excerpts of the book have been posted online.
