"Pokemon GO" updates are in and it looks like there are a lot of shiny Magikarps found lately and this is in connection with a special week-long water event. Most players that were able to capture shiny Magikarps were able to evolve their monsters into shiny Gyarados which means there are already two shiny Pokemons available to collect. Reports say that Nintendo could be releasing more shimmering Pokemons during this ongoing water event and of course these could be water type Pokemons as well.

According to a latest "Pokemon GO" APK mine by avid gamer Silph Road, there were also new shiny genders found near the image of regular Pokemons. This could be an indication that all Pokemons may have a shiny counterpart and are available in all species, Heavy reported. There are reports that also contradict this theory since shiny Pokemons are supposed to be rare creatures; about 1 in every 4,096 Pokemons are shiny.

Niantic also announced that all throughout the "Pokemon GO" water event, water Pokemons will likely spawn more frequently. It was also noted that shiny Pokemons don't appear differently in the map than regular-type creatures, BGR reported. Players will only be able to find out if they have captured a rare Pokemon if they tap on it to capture or when they transfer it to Professor Oak.

Niantic recommends "Pokemon GO" players to take advantage of an abundance of Magikarps throughout the special water event to increase their chances of collecting a shiny one. Players will also be able to evolve a shiny Magikarp with 400 candies into a shiny Gyarados. Aside from the 7-day water event, players can also expect more gifts in the PokeStop streak bonus which also runs for a week and possible addition of more shiny Pokemons soon.
