Reports are that Katie Cassidy will come back to "Arrow" for the 22nd and 23rd episodes of the fifth season, and will be back in the series as a regular from next season. Fans have a fair idea that her unique lawyer character Laurel Lance, a.k.a. crime fighter superheroine Black Canary dies in the earlier season four.

Reports added that this will be the reason for Katie Cassidy for not being able to play Black Canary. However, the reports uncovered that she will be portraying the role of Black Siren, the Canary's doppelgänger from the other world Earth-2, reports E! News.

Marc Guggenheim, an executive producer, gave an announcement saying that something that most energizes makers about "Arrow" is that they can go where the story takes them. He added that last year, the story took them to the shocking death of Laurel Lance. However, this year in the middle of the season finale they felt the need to reintroduce Laurel's doppelgänger, Black Siren.' He added that the team was so taken by Katie Cassidy's valiant interpretation of this character that they knew her story was not yet completed, reports Mail Online .

He also added saying that the "Arrow" makers were really excited to welcome Katie Cassidy back to Arrow as Black Siren. The Black Canary character appeared in 1947 by way of DC's Flash Comics #86, wherein she'd been made by Robert Kanigher and Carmine Infantino.

On "Arrow", Laurel's sister Sara works for a time as the Black Canary, helping Stephen Amell's title character secure Starling City by means of vigilantism. However, Sara winds up biting the dust toward the begin of season three, leaving Laurel to take on the position of the Black Canary. Reports suggest that Katie Cassidy had been a series regular on "Arrow" since the show - which was created by Guggenheim, Greg Berlanti, and Andrew Kreisberg - debuted in 2012.
