Socialite Ghislaine Maxwell is in legal hot water once again. However, this is not over the sexual abuse and sex trafficking of minors this time around. Instead, her own lawyers are suing the Jeffrey Epstein associate and convicted child trafficker for allegedly not paying them.

Denver-based Haddon, Morgan, and Foreman filed a lawsuit against their former client last Monday. Their suit claims she did not pay them more than $878,000 in fees for defending her in her sexual abuse case.

Ghislaine Maxwell's Brother, Kevin Maxwell, Was Supposed to Pay for Her Legal Fees

According to the Associated Press, the socialite was arrested in 2020, and her brother, Kevin Maxwell, was placed in charge of paying for her legal fees. However, the lawsuit claimed that he only paid a fraction of what they charged them.

The firm also stated that Kevin maxwell urged them to keep working on her appeal after she was convicted, despite the mounting legal fees.

They also named Ghislaine Maxwell's husband, Scott Borgerson, in the suit. He allegedly got in the way of her brother in making the payments. The firm alleged that Borgerson formed an LLC to buy up real estate. According to the Daily Beast, this was to protect his wife, Ghislaine Maxwell's assets from creditors.

The lawsuit also alleged that Kevin Maxwell had "personally guaranteed" that he will keep $100,000 in his sister's client trust account at all times. However, the firm claimed that the trust fund has already dried out. It also claimed that after his sister's conviction, Kevin Maxwell claimed he wired funds to the law firm. However, the law firm says they never received any money.

Maxwell's defense attorneys, Christian Everdell and Bobbi Sternheim, cannot be reached for comment, as is her husband. Kevin Maxwell could not also be reached, while their brother, Ian Maxwell, has stated that nobody in their family would be making any comments on the litigation, including Ghislaine Maxwell herself.

Where Is Ghislaine Maxwell Now?

As she and her family face a lawsuit brought about by a law firm that they had a long-standing relationship, the British socialite is currently serving time at the low-security federal prison, FCI Tallahassee. She is currently serving 20 years in prison, according to The Guardian.

Last December, she was found guilty of sex trafficking, transporting a minor to participate in illegal sex acts, and two conspiracy charges. She is best known for luring teenage girls into lavish sex parties by Jeffrey Epstein.

It is alleged that she has set up sexual encounters with the rich and powerful, and many of them involved underaged girls. She even took an active part in molesting them as well. Like Epstein, she was also branded a sexual predator.
