The man who shot Lady Gaga's dog walker while stealing her French bulldogs was sentenced to 21 years in prison.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, 20-year-old James Howard Jackson, one of the people charged in the robbery and shooting of the singer's dog walker, pleaded no contest to one count of attempted murder.

Authorities noted that Lady Gaga's connection to the case was a coincidence and that the motive was the value of the French bulldogs, according to the Associated Press.

French bulldogs are dog breeds that could be worth thousands of dollars. Detectives do not believe the suspects knew the dogs belonged to Lady Gaga.

Jackson was reportedly one of the five people arrested in connection to the violent robbery. He was the one who allegedly shot and wounded Lady Gaga's dog walker, Ryan Fischer.

Lady Gaga's Dog Walker Ryan Fischer Shot

Two of Lady Gaga's French bulldogs - Gustav and Koji - were stolen while Ryan Fischer walked the animals in Hollywood Hills on February 24, 2021. Fischer was shot while protecting the dogs of the "Born This Way" singer.

James Howard Jackson was one of the three men driving around Los Angeles looking for French bulldogs when they came across Fischer walking Lady Gaga's dogs.

According to the complaint, two men got out of the car and started choking and hitting Fischer, who wrestled with the suspects to get the dogs back. But Jackson fired a single shot, striking him in the chest.

Fischer was critically injured, but he survived the attack. The singer initially offered a $500,000 reward for the return of Gustav and Koji, no questions asked. Two days after the shooting incidents, authorities recovered Gustav and Koji unharmed.

A woman returned the dogs to Los Angeles Police District's Olympic Community Police Station. Lady Gaga was in Rome when the dognapping incident happened.

Shooter of Lady Gaga's Dog Walker Nearly Escaped

James Howard Jackson was mistakenly released from prison in April while awaiting trial due to a "clerical error." But Jackson was recaptured in August and was returned to a Los Angeles County jail.

In July, the U.S. Marshals Service offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to his arrest. The other men charged in connection to Lady Gaga's dognapping case were Jaylin White and Lafayette Whaley.

Jaylin White was sentenced to four years in prison in August after he pleaded no contest to one count of second-degree robbery. Whaley was sentenced to six years in prison in the same month after he also pleaded no contest to robbery.

Other suspects were Jennifer McBride, the woman who returned the dogs, and Harold White, the father of Jaylin White, for helping his son avoid arrest.

Harold White pleaded no contest Monday to a count of possession of a firearm with an enumerated prior conviction involving a firearm. He will be sentenced next year.

The case of McBride, who was in a relationship with Harold at the time, is still ongoing. McBride was charged with receiving stolen property.
