King Charles III reportedly decided to kick Prince Harry and Meghan Markle out of their Frogmore Cottage after his son made a number of explosive claims against his stepmother, Queen Consort Camilla.

According to Daily Mail, the king on Tuesday issued notice to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to vacate the five-bedroom mansion at the Windsor Estate. His wife, Camilla, and the Prince and Princess of Wales reportedly backed the move.

Charles reportedly struggled with the decision because he did not want to add fuel to the fire of their ongoing rift. However, the Mirror reported that the monarch had reached a point where he believed that his son had "crossed a line" following a string of Harry's accusations against his stepmother in their Netflix series and his controversial memoir.

Sources told the outlet that Charles was particularly outraged by his son's claim that Camilla was responsible for leaking stories to the media and describing her as "the villain.

In a "60 Minutes" interview with Anderson Cooper to promote his book in January, Harry said the Queen Consort's willingness to forge relationships with the British media made her "dangerous." Harry also referred to his stepmother as "the villain" in the interview.

"She was the villain. She was the third person in their marriage. She needed to rehabilitate her image," said the prince, adding that he and his brother Prince William begged their father not to marry Camilla.

Royal insiders told The Mirror that Charles was also displeased by Harry's suggestion that Camilla had plotted to marry him. In "Spare," Harry wrote: "Shortly after our private meetings with her, she began to develop her long-term strategy, a campaign directed at marriage and ... the Crown (with the blessing of our father, we supposed)."

According to the sources, the accusations had caused irreparable damage to the duke's relationship with his father and brother. An insider said: "It was the last straw. Harry was well aware how Camilla would be a red line for his father, and he crossed with flagrant disregard anyway. The King felt without a doubt it crossed a line - it was the ultimate act of disrespect."

King Charles III Wants Prince Andrew to Move to Frogmore Cottage

King Charles III reportedly started the eviction process on January 11, the day after "Spare" was released. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been given until the coronation in May to remove all their belongings from their former home.

Frogmore Cottage was initially given to the couple as a wedding gift from the late Queen Elizabeth II. However, they ended up living there for less than a year before announcing they were moving overseas as they quit royal duties.

The couple has been staying in Montecito, California, since 2020, or after spending a few months in Canada. Frogmore Cottage was originally five run-down staff residences but was renovated into one large home with a private garden using £2.4 million in taxpayers' money.

However, Harry and Meghan eventually decided to pay the cost of renovations in an agreement that included leasing the cottage for an unspecified number of years. The Sussexes reportedly felt that paying back public money spent on their supposed U.K. home would deflect continuing criticism.

A spokesman for the couple has already confirmed that the Sussexes had been "requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage" without an offer of an alternative property in any royal estate.

Insiders claimed that Harry and Meghan had no idea that their U.K. home was offered to Prince Andrew until the media reported it. Charles has reportedly offered the residence to his younger brother.

However, The Sun reported that the Duke of York is so far "resisting" the offer to downgrade from his nearby seven-bedroom Royal Lodge mansion.

Prince Harry's Controversial 'Spare' Memoir

Part of the memoir's popularity was the controversial issues it covered, including Prince Harry's relationship with the other royal family members. The duke had also talked about the death of his mother, Princess Diana, and the morning after, when his father woke him up and told him what had happened.

He said he remembered with "startling clarity" that his father did not cry and he did not embrace him. He also revealed in the memoir that he asked to see the secret police files related to Princess Diana's car crash years after her death.

Harry also wrote that he saw many paparazzi photos of his dying mother and nobody offered help and that they were "just, shooting, shooting, shooting." The duke also claimed in his memoir that King Charles III and his wife, Queen Consort Camilla, wanted the spotlight.

Harry wrote: "Pa and Camilla didn't like Willy and Kate drawing attention away from them or their causes. They'd openly scolded Willy about it many times."

He noted that his father and sometimes Camilla approved damaging press leaks about him and his brother. In 2019, Prince William was "seething" because Charles and Camilla's people planted stories about him, Kate, and the children, the duke said in the book.

Harry further noted that a news report detailing "that we'd offered to relinquish our Sussex titles" can only be found on one document: his private and confidential letter to his father. He said they did not mention it to their closest friends, but that detail was still part of a news report about them.
