Fox News fired Tucker Carlson for a lot of possible reasons, from racist texts to having a toxic workplace. However, the network's ratings continue to plummet as a result of Fox News firing its highest-rated host.

Carlson used to rule primetime when he was still with Fox News. However, according to Blaze Media, the conservative network's viewership went down by 29,6% from the previous week, which was when Tucker Carlson was fired.

The network only averaged 1.449 million viewers for its prime-time programming between April 24 and Sunday for its Nielsen ratings, and this is reflected in how well "Fox News Tonight," which replaced "Tucker Carlson Tonight" after his firing, was doing,

The new show features a rotating roster of temporary hosts, with Brian Kilmeade hosting for the first week. However, he did not do as well as his predecessor, as only around 1.48 million viewers tuned in on his show. This was far less than what Carlson had been getting, as his show used to average over 3 million total viewers per night from April 17 to 21.

Fox News also lost the ratings battle for the key 25-54 age demographic, as it lost to not just MSNBC's "All in with Chris Haynes," but also to CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360."

Tucker Carlson Viewers May Have Migrated to Newsmax After Tucker Carlson Firing

While Fox News' usual right-wing viewers are unlikely to tune into MSNBC and CNN after the network spent years vilifying their rivals, it is possible they went to another right-wing network after Carlson was fired, and that is Newsmax.

According to the Washington Post, Newsmax's 8 p.m. timeslot show that usually airs around the same time as Carlson's show had a five times larger audience than the previous week.

The show, hosted by former Fox News host Eric Bolling, had approximately 531,000 total viewers, which is a lot more than the usual numbers, and only around 200,000 viewers behind CNN's. It got to 562,000 viewers on Tuesday night before dropping to 456,000 by Thursday.

Lawrence O'Donnell Blasts Tucker Carlson's Racism After Leaked Text Came Out

Carlson was reportedly fired because of a text message that Dominion obtained in their lawsuit where the former Fox News host showed his racist tendencies as he berated White Trump supporters for ganging up on an Antifa protester and saying "It's not how white men fight."

That text was so disturbing that it reportedly led Fox executives to fire Carlson. However, the host of MSNBC's "The Last Word," Lawrence O'Donnell, blasted the former Fox News host and said that he has a "deeply sick mind."

The veteran journalist also called out Fox News for paying Carlson to "publicly be a racist," and added that " Tucker Carlson's perversion is so deep that he believes among other things, that we all know what it's like to taste a desire to watch someone be beaten to death." This is in reference to the leaked text where Carlson also admitted to desiring to see the Antifa protester get killed by the Trump supporters.

He then called Carlson out for having this sort of perversion, saying, "Racism is a perversion that eats away at the brain and makes it smaller, as it has done with what's left of Tucker Carlson's brain."
