Rapper G Herbo has reached a plea agreement in Massachusetts, agreeing to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and making a false statement to a federal official, Pitchfork noted.

In exchange for his guilty plea, two charges of aggravated identity theft will be dismissed.

The plea agreement is expected to be entered in court later this month. If convicted, G Herbo could face up to 20 years in prison.

The fraud case stem from a 2020 federal grand jury indictment that involved G Herbo and five other men.

The indictment accused them of participating in a defrauding scheme that involved purchasing private jet charters, exotic car rentals, designer puppies, and other items using stolen payment and credit card information.

"Wright used the proceeds of these frauds to travel to various concert venues and to advance his career by posting photographs and/or videos of himself on the private jets, in the exotic cars, and at the Jamaican villa," alleges the plea agreement.

G Herbo Promoter Allegedly the Mastermind Behind Fraud Scheme

Aside from rapper G Herbo, promoter Antonio Strong has also signed on to the plea deal in the ongoing legal case, according to BET.

The allegations state that in November 2018, G Herbo provided false information to a U.S. federal agent regarding his relationship with Antonio Strong, a Chicago hip-hop promoter, who is said to be the mastermind behind the scheme.

According to the charges, a substantial history of communication between G Herbo and Antonio Strong was uncovered, which involved text messages, phone conversations, and direct messages on social media.

Despite this, G Herbo had initially claimed that he had not given Strong any money or received any valuable items from him.

As part of the plea agreement, G Herbo will pay $140,000 in restitution to several alleged victims who were impacted by the scheme.

G Herbo Early Life, Career, and Other Legal Battles

G Herbo, a South Side native, gained recognition as a local hero in Chicago during the early 2010s when he played a significant role in bringing the city's drill music to international prominence, per Chicago Sun-Times.

Collaborating with fellow rappers Chief Keef and Lil Durk, he made a mark with his music, which reflected the harsh realities of growing up in a violent environment.

His straightforward and impactful approach to storytelling resonated with audiences and earned him gold and platinum plaques.

However, alongside his musical success, G Herbo has faced legal issues that have impacted his rise to fame.

Earlier this month, he was found with a loaded handgun during a traffic stop in Chicago's River North neighborhood.

He was charged with a misdemeanor count of unlawful use of a weapon, as prosecutors denied felony charges.

Though approximately 300 grams of cannabis were allegedly recovered during the stop, he did not face additional counts related to the drug possession.

Cook County court records indicate that G Herbo has faced multiple criminal charges since 2014, with many of them related to drug and gun charges that were eventually dropped.

He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge, leading to a sentence of two years of probation in 2019
