Lawyers for rapper Tory Lanez tried to appeal for a new trial after he was convicted last December for shooting hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion. However, a Los Angeles judge denied this motion, so his three felony convictions remain in place.

The rapper, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, not only faces 22 years in prison for attacking the "W.A.P." singer but also faces deportation back to Canada. He was convicted of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence last December. His attorneys have been trying to appeal ever since.

Lanez's attorneys claimed that the evidence against their client was "wrongly admitted into the trial." However, Superior Court Judge Herriford rejected these arguments and ruled that excluding the evidence would not have made a difference in the final verdict.

It was noted that the rapper's attorneys pointed to an Instagram post from their client as the piece of evidence that was wrongly admitted to the trial. The rapper was seen pleading with the judge to have a new trial during the court proceedings.

Tory Lanez Shot Megan Thee Stallion in the Foot Back in 2020

The incident happened in July 2020, with Megan Thee Stallion being seen getting inside a police car with bloody feet. The police car then took her to a hospital, with initial reports stating that she was injured from stepping into broken glass and was arrested after partying with friends.

However, this was not the case, as she claimed in a now-deleted Instagram post that she was shot by rapper Tory Lanez, who was arrested for possession of an unregistered firearm.

In her deleted Instagram post, Megan Thee Stallion claimed that she suffered gunshot wounds on her feet "as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me."

According to The Cut, she then went on Instagram Live in August 2020 and claimed it was Lanez who was responsible for shooting her in her feet. She admitted that she initially did not trust the police to protect her, and that was why she did not tell them what really happened.

"Why the f*ck would I tell [the police] somebody got a gun in this car and this n**** - shot me?" she said during her Instagram Live stream. "So I can get shot, you can get shot, she can get shot, he can get shot?"

Megan Thee Stallion Says She Has Closed the Tory Lanez Chapter and Has Moved On

While Lanez is still making appeals for a new trial, Megan Thee Stallion has seemingly moved on, according to TMZ.

Back in April, she wrote an op-ed on Elle Magazine and lamented the public humiliation she suffered at the hands of Lanez. She said she was still recovering and stated that she was not a victim. However, she added that she could not ignore the trauma she suffered at the hands of the rapper.

She said that while Lanez laughed, joked, and pushed false narratives about the attack, she endured "her most traumatic experience." She also lashed out at unnamed individuals in the music industry who accused her of lying about the shooting. She also hoped that her story would touch other victims of traumatic experiences.
