Argentina's "La Pulga" has terrorized Europe and is now competing in the US's MLS. As Lionel Messi's career is winding down, let us take a look at his many records that are undoubtedly difficult to replicate or break.

The 36-year-old Inter Miami superstar has done a lot of things throughout his decades-spanning career, with the latest one being his record-eighth Ballon d'Or win. Last year, he also won the one trophy that had eluded him his entire life, and that was the World Cup, leading Argentina to victory against France in Qatar.

5 Lionel Messi Records That Will Be Difficult To Break

Lionel Messi may have won one trophy after another, from the UEFA Champions League trophy to the World Cup to the Ballon d'Or, but on the field, he has proved why he has all those accolades under his belt. We shall take a look at five of the records he currently has and discuss why such a feat is hard and why doing it again is nigh impossible.

Winning 8 Ballon d'Ors

Let us begin with his latest accolade which is winning the most Ballon d'Or awards with eight. Before winning his latest one, Messi already held the record with seven, making this year's win a record extender.

The person who is nearest to beating that record is none other than Cristiano Ronaldo with five wins. However, at age 38, the Portuguese superstar would not be able to catch up to the Argentinian. Currently, only Croatia's Luka Modric and France's Karim Benzema are the only active Ballon d'Or winners while Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and former Paris Saint-Germaine teammate Kylian Mbappe still have not even won the prestigious award yet, according to the BBC. The award is usually given to the "Best Footballer in the world" and right now, it is still Messi's world.

Most Goals in a La Liga Season

According to Al Jazeera, Lionel Messi has the La Liga record for scoring the most goals in a season with 50. This is also considered "the most in a season by any player in one of Europe's top five leagues since the formation of the Premier League in 1992-93."

Most Goals in a Single Season for All Competitions

That La Liga record was set by Messi during the 2011-2012 season. However, during that same season, Messi also broke the record for most goals in all competitions in a single season, which includes games outside Spain's La Liga. His goal of 73 still stands and the closest one happened over 90 years ago when Dixie Dean scored 63 goals for Everton.

Individual and Team Accolades

Lionel Messi has a staggering amount of accolades under his name and replicating all these wins would be near impossible to do.

According to his official website, Messi has four Champions League titles, 10 La Liga titles, seven Copa del Rey titles, three Club World Cup titles, three European Super Cup titles, eight Supercopa de España titles, two Ligue 1 titles, 1 French Super Cup title, 1 Leagues Cup title, 1 Copa America, 1 U-20 World Cup, 1 Olympic Gold Medal, 1 Finalissima title, and of course, a World Cup. That's just his team titles as he also has eight Ballon d'Ors, six European Golden Shoes, nine La Liga MVP awards, and six scoring awards.

Most Goals for Argentina

Throughout much of his career, Lionel Messi has been compared to one man back home in Argentina, and that is the great Diego Maradona. Despite his accolades, many stated that he could not compare to "god" because he did not have a World Cup. Things changed last year. However, to hammer in the point that he is among the country's greatest, Messi also has the most goals for Argentina at 106.
