The Brazil vs. Argentina fight during the FIFA World Cup Qualifier in Rio de Janeiro will now be investigated by FIFA in disciplinary proceedings. An investigation into what started the brawl between fans is also being investigated by Brazilian police. As for what happened on the field, Argentina players protested while Brazilian police were beating up Argentinian fans. It got so heated that Lionel Messi had to pull his teammates from the field and head to the locker rooms to cool their heads.

According to Reuters, the Argentina vs. Brazil fight started behind one of the goals, between fans of both sides. Brazilian police rushed in and started attacking Argentinian fans. Both soccer associations are now being investigated regarding the fight between their fans because of this.

"FIFA can confirm that its Disciplinary Committee has opened proceedings against the Brazilian Football Association (CBF) and the Argentinian Football Association (AFA)," said the organization in a statement. Meanwhile, FIFA is also slapping Argentinian fans with some disciplinary actions for the "crowd disturbance" and delayed kick-off.

As for Brazil, the CBF is under investigation for possible violations of "Article 17" of the FIFA disciplinary code, which tackles maintaining order and security during matches, as many felt Brazilian police used excessive force against the Argentinian fans.

Lionel Messi defended Argentina going inside the locker rooms as the brawl was going on by explaining that it was to cool their heads. Before heading inside, Messi and the other Argentina players tried to calm things down but things soon got heated when Brazilian police started hitting Argentinian fans.
