Another shooting happened in the US, this time in a mall in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Christmas Eve as shoppers try and make their last-minute Christmas shopping.

According to police, the incident left one person dead, with three others wounded during the Christmas Eve shooting that happened inside the Citadel Mall in Colorado Springs on Sunday.

CNN reported that the shooting happened after a fight broke out between two groups. Officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department soon responded just after 4:30 PM while holiday shoppers were making their last-minute purchases. This meant that the shooting happened during what is considered the second-busiest shopping weekend of the year, just behind Black Friday.

The two injured people are each "suffering from at least one gunshot wound" and were shortly taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Both of them were males and were described to have had serious injuries. They remained in serious condition come Christmas day.

As for the mall, it has been "cleared and closed," with police announcing that "There is no known threat to the community at this time." Meanwhile, another woman was also hospitalized after the Colorado Christmas Shooting. However, she was shot and was only treated for minor injuries.

Several People Detained but No Arrests Yet in Connection with Colorado Christmas Shooting

The shooting itself happened near a JCPenney store inside the mall located at 750 Citadel Drive East in Colorado Springs. As the shooting happened, it caused major panic among last-minute Christmas shoppers.

"We just started hearing gunshots. Just started hearing gunshots. I heard at first and then I saw everybody running from the play gym area and they were telling everybody to get out. And then that's when they just unleashed, it was... I don't even know how many gunshots there were after that," one witness at the scene told CBS News.

Investigations are now underway as the Colorado Springs Police Department has opened an investigation into the deadly Christmas shooting. This has led to police detaining multiple people as investigators try to find out what their role in the incident was.

While there were people who were detained, nobody has been arrested yet, according to Detectives who stated that the attack appeared to be a targeted one.

Another Christmas Season Shooting Happened Inside Florida Mall

Meanwhile, that was not the only shooting that happened over Christmas weekend as police in Ocala, Florida are looking for a man who opened fire inside a mall. The attack reportedly left one man dead and another injured last Saturday.

Police have offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of 39-year-old Albert J. Shell Jr. who is suspected of being the one behind the deadly Florida mall shooting on Saturday, He is wanted for premeditated first-degree murder and attempted premeditated first-degree murder, according to CNN.

Shell killed 40-year-old David Nathaniel Barron in his attack and injured an unnamed woman who was shot in the leg, She is expected to survive but the suspect fled the mall on foot after the shooting.
