Professional dancer Hayley Erbert and " skull surgery " judge Derek Hough embraced the holiday season with gratitude and love, cherishing each moment together, per FOX News.

Their festive celebration follows Erbert's recent medical emergency, where she underwent skull surgery after being diagnosed with a cranial hematoma earlier this month.

"Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas. Cherishing the greatest gift of all. The precious gift of life and the love we share," Erbert shared the heartfelt message on Instagram, expressing her joy for the season.

The accompanying photo captured the couple's embrace beneath a Christmas tree. Erbert donned cozy forest green pajamas and a silk scarf covering her head, showcasing the couple's resilience and love.

"Hold your loved ones close and treasure every moment," she wrote.

Derek Hough's sister, Julianne Hough, encouraged Erbert, referring to her as a "Christmas miracle" in light of the challenging month she endured.

Hayley Erbert's Health Journey Unveiled

The journey began when Hayley Erbert experienced a medical emergency after the Symphony of Dance tour performance in Washington, DC, as revealed by Hough in a December 7 Instagram post, Good Morning America noted.

Hayley Erbert, becoming disoriented, was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma, necessitating emergency craniectomy. During this procedure, a section of the skull is removed to alleviate pressure on the brain.

Providing updates on Erbert's health, Hough shared that she underwent a successful cranioplasty surgery, which repairs cranial defects, a procedure often performed after traumatic injuries.

While it remains unclear whether the cranioplasty was directly related to the initial craniectomy, Erbert's recovery process has been progressing as planned.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Hayley Erbert and Derek Hough's love story dates back to 2013, when they first met during the "So You Think You Can Dance" tour.

However, their romantic journey began years later when Erbert joined the DWTS dance troupe.

The couple made their relationship public in 2017. It announced their engagement in 2022 through a grand Instagram post featuring flowers, candles, and an embrace in their Los Angeles home.

"It's only the beginning... the beginning of forever," the caption read.

Hough, a six-time champion on "Dancing With The Stars," hinted at their impending nuptials in August through an Instagram video featuring a heartfelt song he composed about their relationship.

"Life seems to be moving so fast; I want to hold back time as much as I possibly can to savor every moment with you," Derek Hough shared, expressing the desire to savor every moment with his wife.

He also said he could not wait to build memories and a beautiful life with her.

Erbert reciprocated the sentiment in the comments, expressing her deep love for Hough and gratitude for being chosen in this life.

"I love you from the deepest depths of my heart. Thank you for choosing me in this life," she replied.
