Actors James Franco and Matt Bomer both mentioned "American Horror Story" recently, but only one of them is actually scheduled to appear in the upcoming season.

On Sept. 1, Franco uploaded a picture onto his Instagram page that made some believe he was going to co-star alongside Emma Roberts in the FX series. The picture featured Roberts, a confirmed star for Season 4, titled "Freak Show," sticking her tongue out.

"American Horror Story! (What a good co-star. She's the effin' BEST!)@emmaroberts," the caption says.

Unfortunately for Franco and "Freak Show" fans, it would appear that Franco was not referring to "American Horror Story" when he called Roberts his co-star. As pointed out by HollywoodLife.com, Franco uploaded a different picture with Roberts onto his Instagram on Aug. 31. The actress is wearing the same shirt, and according to the caption, it took place on the set of an upcoming movie called "Michael."

"Last day on 'michael'! I love my Emma @emmaroberts," the caption says.

Franco is not a confirmed cast member for "American Horror Story: Freak Show."

"White Collar" actor Bomer, on the other hand, is and is apparently quite excited.

"The freakier, the better," he told E! News. "Bring it on!"

Bomer will appear in one episode of the season, but reportedly does not know what character he will play.

"There's not much out of my comfort zone anymore," he said.

"American Horror Story: Freak Show" premieres on FX on Oct. 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. It takes place in 1950s Jupiter, Florida. Lange stars as a German woman managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S.

"I'm actually looking forward to this season," Lange told Entertainment Weekly backstage at this year's Emmys. "This season is going to be the most extraordinary that we've done. If it can all come together and we keep on track, it's going to be something really, really special."
