The 2014 National Football League season is flying by. We're already in the fifth week of play, and some teams are shining while others have been major disappointments. Monday Night Football gives fans a matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington Redskins.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks have a 2-1 record after wins over the Denver Broncos and the Green Bay Packers. The only defeat for the Seahawks came in Week 2 against the San Diego Chargers, in a hot and humid game in San Diego.

The Seahawks had a bye week last week, and haven't played a game since their victory over Peyton Manning and the Broncos. The "Legion of Boom" defense is healthy and ready to go in to battle against a mediocre Redskins team. This should be a big break for the Seahawks because they've faced the toughest schedule so far.

Richard Sherman and Byron Maxwell continue to shut down opposing wide receivers, with safeties Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas backing them up. The offense has been impressive so far as well. Quarterback Russell Wilson has six touchdowns to just one interception and a 108.9 passer rating. Running back Marshawn Lynch continues to be a problem for opposing defenses. Lynch has 234 rushing yards and three touchdowns in the team's first three games.

The Seahawks have yet to play a division game.

Washington Redskins

It's been another bumpy start for the Redskins. The team is just 1-3 with losses to the Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. In the last two games, the Redskins have allowed more than 35 points against -- both to divisional teams. Their lone victory came in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who haven't won a game this season.

Quarterback play continues to haunt this team. Former No. 2 overall draft pick Robert Griffin III is injured (again), and Kirk Cousins is coming off a terrible game against the Giants. Wide receivers DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon are getting open, but tight end Niles Paul is the team's leading target with 313 receiving yards. Running back Alfred Morris has been the brightest star on offense. Morris has 316 rushing yards and three touchdowns in his first four games of the season.

If the Redskins lose this game, they're in for a tough road. After this game, the Redskins will be playing three of their next four games on the road against the Arizona Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings. Falling to 1-4 in the NFC East division would pretty much end the Redskins season. The best thing going for the Redskins on Monday night is they will have home-field advantage.

Schedule, Where to Watch

The Redskins and Seahawks will face off on Monday Night Football at FedEx Field at Landover, Maryland. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. EST on ESPN.

Prediction

The Redskins have home-field advantage, but the Seahawks are just too much. Coming off a bye week, watching the San Francisco 49ers win and must avoid starting 2-2 will all fuel this Seahawks team. The Seahawks defense is still the best in the game, and the offense can still score points. Cousins is in for a long day.

Seahawks win 27-13
