Rosario Dawson, 34, recently admitted that she did not have sex until she was 20-years-old during a discussion about Kids (1995) and her character in the film, Ruby.

Puerto Rican/Afro-Cuban, Dawson was 15 at the time that Kids was filmed, and though her character was the same age, she had quite a bit more experience than Dawson did.

The popular, controversial film directed by Larry Clark, centered on New York City teenagers having unprotected sex and abusing drugs, contracting HIV in the process. Dawson's character, Ruby is overtly sexual, often discussing the sex that she's had.

In the film, she goes to a clinic to get tested for STDs, and finds that the results are negative, though she has multiple sex partners, and does not use protection. Her friend, Jennie, however, is HIV-positive, though she's only had sex with one person.

At that same age, Dawson was not concerned with sex, but about developing her growing career. She remained a virgin throughout her teen years, not necessarily out of fear of contracting a disease, but because her own mother was a teenage mom.

"My mom was a teenage mom. I was deathly afraid of being a teenage mom.... My mom told me so much about sex at an early age that she scared me: I didn't have sex until was 20," the 10 Years actress said.

Dawson has appeared in a number of blockbusters and independent features, including He Got Game, Light It Up, Josie and the Pussycats, Sidewalks of New York, Men in Black II, The Rundown, Alexander, Sin City, Rent, Clerks II, Death Proof, Fire with Fire and Chavez.

Dawson is not only an actress, but a writer, producer, voice actress, political activist, and a singer as well. She's worked with musicians such as Prince and Outkast in the past.
