We saw our fair share of surprises and exciting games in Week 7, but the best was saved for last.

Just as we all thought the Denver Broncos were the best team in the NFL, they were suddenly no longer in first place at the end of the weekend. The Indianapolis Colts kicked into high gear and toppled the previously undefeated Broncos squad on the night when Peyton Manning returned to his former stadium in losing fashion, 39-33.

The Broncos were not the only powerful AFC team to slip in Week 7. The New York Jets -- led by rookie Geno Smith - toppled the New England Patriots in overtime and held quarterback Tom Brady to no touchdowns for the second time in three weeks. Brady is going through a rough patch after his touchdown streak ended a few weeks ago.

Elsewhere, the Kansas City Chiefs held on by a thread against the Houston Texans to escape with a 17-16 victory, sending the team into first place in the AFC West ahead of the now-second place Broncos.

In the AFC North, the Cincinnati Bengals improved to 5-2, putting them two games ahead of the rest of the pack in the division. The defending champion Baltimore Ravens fell to 3-4 after losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In the NFC, the Washington Redskins and the Chicago Bears played the highest scoring game of the week as Washington eked out a 45-41 victory. In the rest of the NFC East, the Dallas Cowboys held the Philadelphia Eagles to only a field goal in a 17-3 victory to climb above .500 while maintaining a one game lead in the division.

The only NFC East team that has yet to play this week is the winless New York Giants, who will face Minnesota tonight on Monday Night Football.
