The Brooklyn Nets and the Charlotte Hornets are reportedly engaged in another trade talk involving shooting guards Joe Johnson and Lance Stephenson, Yahoo Sports reported.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nets are still determined to part ways with Johnson, who is being shopped along with Brook Lopez and Deron Williams since late last year.

Sources indicated the Nets and the Hornets are considering a trade that would send Johnson to Charlotte in exchange for Stephenson, Gerald Henderson and Marvin Williams.

Johnson, who is averaging 15.5 points to go along with 4.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game this season, is set to receive a total of $23.1 million this season, and $24.9 million in the final year of his contract next season.

The Hornets, who are currently in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings with their 19-26 record, are looking to improve their playoff chances this season. Team owner Michael Jordan is reportedly intrigued with the possibility of adding Johnson, who could provide additional scoring punch and locker room presence to the team.

On the other hand, the deal would also make sense for the Nets. Previous reports indicated that they are not looking to trade Johnson just to take his lucrative contract out of their books.

The Nets are determined to remain in playoff contention, and acquiring Stephenson, Williams and Henderson might be enough for them to barge into the postseason this year.

However, it is still unknown at this point whether or not the Hornets will give up all three players as reports revealed Johnson is struggling with knee and ankle injuries over their past several games.

"I've just got tendinitis real bad in my right knee and in my left ankle," Johnson told Newsday. "I've been playing with both of them and been pretty banged up for probably about the past month and a half or so. We don't have time to have guys sit and rest, like some other teams do."

Earlier this month, the Nets and Hornets also discussed a trade that would have sent Brook Lopez to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Stephenson to Brooklyn, and Jeremy Lamb and Jarrett Jack to Charlotte.

However, the negotiation did not come to fruition because the Nets wanted more assets and they are also reluctant to add Stephenson because of his unpredictable behavior.
