"Being Mary Jane" actress, Gabrielle Union recently defended husband and NBA star Dwyane Wade against Charles Barkley.

Barkley made defamatory statements about Wade during a live taping of "Inside the NBA" on TNT, MadameNoire reports.

While discussing the NBA picks for this year's all-star team with his co-host Kenny Smith, Barkley said Wade should not have been chosen to join the team because "he is not having an all-star year."

"Dwyane Wade shouldn't have made the All-Star team. He is a Hall of Famer, but he didn't deserve to be an All-Star this year," Barkley said during the show.

"Bosh has been the best player for Miami this year. Brandon Knight in Milwaukee, Brandon Jennings in Detroit or Kyle Korver in Atlanta should have been rewarded for having good seasons," Barkley added. "This might be the only time Knight, Jennings or Korver have a chance to make the All-Star team. I always give the edge to guys who are winning. Dwyane Wade is not having an All-Star year."

Smith disagreed with Barkley's statements about Wade and defended the Miami Heat player's athletic skill.

Meanwhile, Union caught wind of Barkley's commentary against Wade and took to Twitter to slam him for dissing her husband and questioned his credibility. Union also praised Smith for sticking up for her husband.

Being that "Inside the NBA" airs live, Barkley was tipped off about Union's tweet during the episode and fired back on-air, TheYBF reports.

Barkley dissed Union's acting ability and defended his on-air debacle with Union: "I'm not one of them people who's going to turn the other cheek. You say something bad about me, I'm going to say something about you."

Smith once again defended the Wade couple and called out Barkley for being disrespectful with his statements.

Union has yet to respond publicly to Barkley's attack against her acting skills.
