In a recent interview with Yahoo! Style, actress Gabrielle Union discussed her decision to have Dwyane Wade sign a prenup prior to tying the knot back in April.

 Us Weekly reports.

Union explained that while Wade is a successful NBA star, she has no intention to "latch onto" his fame and money for her benefit. She is successful also and therefore wanted both she and Wade to continue each of their financial success and fame individually, she explained.

"For women in Hollywood, when they're coupling, everything is about the brand. Everything is about latching on to a rising star, so you can kick your heels up. That's never been my story, ever," Union said. "I make sure to let people know all of the hard work that's gone into my career. Now that it's time to get married to a man who happens to play basketball and has done well for himself, I want to make it clear that I have in no way hitched my wagon to his star. I have my own wagon and star."

Prior to speaking with Yahoo! Style, Union also spoke about her prenup decision on "The Arsenio Hall Show"  in February and mirrored her current view that she wants her and Wade's finances to remain separate.

"The biggest difference between this and the last marriage will be a prenup at my insistence. When you have your own stuff, you don't need to worry about anyone else's stuff. Everyone should go into a relationship knowing I'm here for you and you're here for me. And the reality is, I've never seen Dwayne balance a checkbook, so I gotta protect my stuff," she quipped.

Wade and Union tied the knot on Aug. 30 in Miami. The couple banned the use of phones and cameras at their wedding in order to ensure complete privacy.
