There are plenty of talented members in the Rivera family and Rosie Rivera wants to prove that her celebrity is not based on her name.

Rosie is reportedly in talks to star in a new telenovela alongside Eduardo Yañez, according to TV y Novelas.

Addressing a group of reports, Rosie explained that she didn't want to be famous just because of who she is.

"I don't want to make it just because of my last name; I want to make it because I am talented," she said. "I know that being Jenni Rivera's sister there are eyes on me, and I love it. I love being Jenni Rivera's sister, but to be on screen, especially on our screen, I need to prepare myself. I think of our telenovelas where the best actresses are, and I can't just get into [telenovelas] because I have a known last name."

Although Rosie didn't elaborate on whether or not she was going to be in a telenovela, she did talk about the possibility, explaining that if you see her on the small screen it is because she earned it.

Rosie would be OK with taking on smaller roles, so that she can grow over time.

"I am happy that way," she said. "I want to work. Acting is a beautiful art, and I would be more than privileged to accept."

One thing you won't see Rosie trying is music.

"Not me," she said. "I sing too ugly."

Her niece, Chiquis Rivera, debuted as a singer in 2014. Chiquis has also been under scrutiny because of her family name. While some continue to support Chiquis, others believe the young singer is only using her late mother's celebrity to achieve stardom.

Singer Marilyn Odessa was reportedly one who spoke out against Chiquis career.

Chiquis did address the controversy in an interview with "Ventaneando."

"It doesn't seem fair," she said. "We are both in [the music industry], and to say those things doesn't seem right to me. I, on the contrary, wish her the best in the world for her career. I know how difficult it is to be in this medium, especially for a woman. Instead of knocking each other down ... I think we need to support each other."
