Although Sony was plagued by network problems and complaints during its Playstation 4 launch weekend, the company still managed to sell more than 1 million units in the United States.

Sony reported on Sunday that more than a million game consoles had been sold. But while Sony was enjoying the sales numbers, they were also dealing with angry customers who reported all sorts of problems such as intermittent audio, faulty video, and even random shut offs where the entire game console would just randomly turn off.

Sony made a public statement to address the situation but made sure to stress that only a small portion of the units were affected.

"There have been several problems reported, which leads us to believe there isn't a singular problem that could impact a broader percentage of systems. The number of affected systems represents less than 0.4% of shipped units to date, which is within our expectations for a new product introduction."

Despite the issues and complaints during the launch weekend, Sony already beat out its predecessor. It took two months for The Playstation 3 to reach 1 million units sold in the United States because of manufacturing problems related to the Blu-Ray player, which was a key feature at the time.

The PS4 will be released in Europe and Australia on Nov. 29 but not before the Xbox One is released in the United States on Nov. 22. The Xbox One and PS4 have gone head to head as the two rival platforms that will dominate the next generation of gaming.
