Fans of "Arrow" will find out how Oliver Queen will deal with his dilemma about replacing Ra's al Ghul as the new leader of The League of Assassins when the DC comic-based series returns on March 18.

During last week's game-changing episode, "Nanda Parbat," Ra's al Ghul spared Oliver's life but told him that he wanted to him to become his successor.

Meanwhile, Nyssa al Ghul returned to Starling City and fought and defeated Malcolm Merlyn, the man behind the death of her love, Sara Lance. Nyssa was then captured by Oliver, but Thea Queen confessed that she actually killed Sara before freeing her from her cell.

In addition, Ray Palmer made his debut as a new vigilante with the A.T.O.M. suit. He also slept with Felicity.

A preview video of the upcoming episode, entitled "The Offer," reveals that Oliver may at least consider taking on Ra's al Ghul's role.

According to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg Oliver will be in shock over Ra's al Ghul offer for him to take lead over The League of Assassins.

"Oliver is completely -- as hopefully the audience is -- taken aback, 'cause he was not expecting" Ra's al Ghul's overture, Kreisberg teased, reports TVLine.

"It was important to have a different villain this year and somebody who is going to be doing something completely different," he said, speaking of Ra's, who started off as a "giant, malevolent force" and is now offering "the keys to the kingdom to our hero."

"The Offer" will revolve around how Oliver and everyone else will react to the proposition, and his answer, said the EP. The League is now "a different kind of threat, because they're asking him to join up. [But] as Malcolm tells him in a subsequent episode, [Ra's is] not really asking," he added.

However, there is also the question of whether or not Oliver could even step into the murderous leadership role, due to his humane heart and compassion.

"Ra's has an interesting perspective on that question, which you'll get in the first act [of the next episode]," said executive producer Marc Guggenheim. "One of the things we reveal in [Episode] 320 is where the name The League of Assassins came from and what it means to be an 'assassin.' If you're a historian, you know it has a different meaning than what it's become in the modern day."

Nyssa, on the other hand, will have a strong reaction when she discovers that her father plans to crown Oliver as his successor and not her.

"Nyssa is the Heir to the Demon, so you can imagine how she feels when she finds out that what she considered to be her birthright is being handed to Oliver," Kreisberg teases.

Nyssa thinks that her father made this decision due to his disapproval of her romance with Sara.

"There's a scene in [Episode 16] between Nyssa and Ra's that definitely addresses that," Guggenheim says. "From Nyssa's perspective, it has everything to do with Sara. From Ra's perspective? Maybe, maybe not." Regardless of the answer, Ra's decision will send his lost daughter "on a different trajectory where she's seeing what kindness looks like for the first time, and she's seeing what normal people look like for the first time," Kreisberg said.

The producers also talked about Nyssa's character development and journey.

"The best part of Nyssa for this season is seeing somebody who, unlike all these other people who had normal lives and tragedy turned them into what they were, she was turned into what she is from birth," said Kreisberg, according to IGN. "She's actually going on a different trajectory where she's seeing what kindness looks like for the first time and she's seeing what normal people look like for the first time. Especially with what she considers to be her inheritance is taken away from her, it sends her on a completely different journey."

He added, "Nyssa's journey, going forward, is going to be really interesting just because she was so dead set on who she was, what she was going to be, how she laid out her future for herself. Then everything has been thrown up in the air. She no longer is Heir to the Demon and she no longer has her love, who I'm sure she was thinking about keeping around forever. Essentially, at this point in the story, she's lost everything and I think for the first time in her life, she is vulnerable and she feels weak and she feels useless and doesn't know where she stands or who she is at the moment and I think it's very jarring for her because she's never had to go through that ever, in any capacity in her life before so I think you're going to see Nyssa trying to figure out who she is and what she stands for now."

Kreisberg also addressed Felicity's budding feeling towards her boss Ray Palmer and Oliver.

"Part of the fun of watching couples on television is keeping them apart and watching how other people come in and out of their lives," said the showrunner. "For right now, Oliver has decided that [he] can't do this, and Felicity's not just going to sit around waiting for him. She's probably the most healthy of all of them. He's the one shutting himself down, emotionally, when he has this amazing person who's basically offering him hope, guidance, friendship and love and everything. He doesn't feel he deserves it and doesn't feel that's what's best for her, whether she agrees with it or not."

In the meantime, she seems to be falling for Ray, who has "had a tragedy and he's trying to do right by it, but he's opening his heart to her. And he's Brandon Routh. How can you blame her?" Kreisberg adds.

Fans will also see how Oliver will react to Ray Palmer as the new superhero in town.

Ray will "go about things in a very different way than the Arrow does," Guggenheim reveals. "And he's not a part of Team Arrow. Right now, he's just a very smart guy in a very, very powerful suit. Oliver's definitely going to have an opinion, and the first instance of that will be in Episode 317."

"Arrow" Season 3, Episode 16, "The Offer," airs on Wednesday, March 18, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
