Austria and Bosnia-Herzegovina will face off in an international friendly on Tuesday.

The Bosnian side was once touted as an up and comer in Europe after a solid qualifying campaign for the 2014 World Cup. But the team flopped on the big stage and has struggled to replicate any of its pre-World Cup form in the aftermath of the tournament. In fact, since defeating Iran 3-1 in its final World Cup match, the Bosnian side has a record of two wins, two losses and two draws. The timing of that run, however, has cost the team dearly in the Euro qualifiers as Bosnia and Herzegovina currently sits in fifth place in Group B. Belgium is supposedly the top team in that group, but it currently sits in third place with two wins and two draws. However, Belgium has a game in hand on top side Wales.

How far is Bosnia from the top? Six points. The team got a 1-1 draw from Belgium but lost to lowly Cyprus at home and got destroyed by Israel. There is still time for a turnaround, but with games against Belgium (on the road), Wales and Israel remaining, the team could fall further down the table and miss out on the Euro.

Meanwhile Austria is enjoying its qualifying life in a far more contentious group. The team has four wins and one draw in Group G, which also includes Russia, Sweden and Montenegro. The Russia-Montenegro game has no result yet, but it is likely that Russia sees three points from that game and jumps to eight points in the standings. That would leave the Russians in third place, but Austria would retain a full four point lead on the Russians.

Predictions

Austria is hot right now and wins 3-2.
