Ever have those "insert foot into mouth" moments?

Well apparently, comedian Louis C.K. has, and not just during his stand-up routines or on his FX show, "Louie," but instead it was on the mega social media platform, Twitter.

The comedian has taken flight and is abandoning the Twittersphere for good, but many have been questioning why. Was he bullied or was he being the bully? Turns out he thinks the latter and he wanted to put an end to that negativity and sinicism that his fans known him and love him for.

According to Rolling Stone, Louie C.K. explained why he called it quits on Twitter during an interview with SiriusXM's Opie: "It didn't make me feel good," the comic said. "It made me feel bad instead. So I stopped doing it."

With a huge audience, the instant gratification of expressing his thoughts had the reverse effect.

"Any time I tweeted anything I was like, 'Ugh don't like the way that came out,'" he explained. "And then four and a half million people saw it! It was the worst things I ever said, heard and seen by the most people. It's the worst possible scenario."

The comedian also noted that he "primarily used Twitter as a promotional tool," Rolling Stone added, after he succumbed to the pressure of getting an account.

"It's too instant, I don't think the speed helps dialogue," C.K. said. "I think it's why everything is kind of f..... up and polarizing, because people are going too fast, they're trying to react too quickly."

What further fueled the fire was his acknowledgement of his mean, rapid-fire Twitter rant towards vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin in 2010. He tweeted about her while reportedly being drunk on an airplane.

On Wednesday, Louis C.K. recalled meeting Palin at the "Saturday Night Live" 40th anniversary special's after-party in February. He told the story to Howard Stern that "Palin was with her nephew, Payton McCann, a young stand-up comic waiting tables by day, when she told the professional comedian, 'My nephew told me I have to say hi to you and you're the one guy I have to meet,'" People reported.

Louis C.K. admitted to Stern that he's "never in a million years" apologized for any of his jokes before, but added that that night, "something came over me emotionally and I said, 'Well, I owe you an apology.'"

A "sincerely humbled and appreciative," Palin forgave him and said "Come fishing with me if you're in Alaska." Looks like Louis C.K. just might be up for the challenge because he reportedly said he'd partake "in a heartbeat." Who knows, the second encounter in Alaska could be featured on an episode of his show!
