Police at Los Angeles International Airport used a Taser to apprehend a 21-year-old man after he breached security and refused to comply with police commands on Wednesday.

Officials say that the incident occurred Wednesday morning around 11 a.m. after the suspect, who has been identified as Christian James Heinz, of Danville, California, was not cooperating with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers in the airport screening area at Terminal 6, reports The New York Daily News. Airport police then stepped in to assist the TSA officers, but the man refused to cooperate and pushed past an officer. They pursued him all the way to Gate 66.

Video captured by several witnesses, including Verne Troyer who played Mini-Me in the "Austin Powers" films, show the man lying on the ground as two officers use the Taser on him and yell at him.

"Stay down! Stay down!" said one of the officers in the video footage.

In one video, police are seen trying to handcuff the suspect, who then raises his arms and walks away.

Following the incident, the man was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment, according to a statement released by Sergeant Belinda Joseph of the Los Angeles Airport Police.

"Airport police followed the man and detained him at Gate 66. As he was being taken into custody a use of force occurred involving a Taser," Sgt. Joseph said, according to Reuters.

Officials confirmed that the man was not armed when the incident took place.

He was booked at 11 p.m. on Wednesday on charges of trespassing in a sterile area of the airport, resisting arrest and restricting, delaying or obstructing a peace officer, said airport spokeswoman Nancy Suey Castles.

Police said that they will continue to look into the matter during an ongoing investigation.
