Amir Khan and Chris Algieri will face each other in a welterweight non-title fight on Friday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Khan and Algieri are both looking to get a big fight later this year, and a win on Friday night will put them one step closer to reaching their goal. A win could also give the winner a shot against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September, which will likely be the final fight of the reigning pound-for-pound king.

Khan, who holds a 30-3 record with 19 victories by knockouts, is coming off an impressive win against Devon Alexander in December. Before winning against Alexander, Khan also dominated Luis Collazo in May last year and Julio Diaz in April 2013.

The Bolton, England native is continuously being linked to a showdown against Mayweather since last year. Recent reports indicated that he will likely get his dream fight if he scores an impressive win against Algieri. Khan reiterated, though, that he is not taking Algieri for granted because he knows the New York native is dangerous opponent.

"I'm not looking past this Chris Algieri fight. I know it's a very dangerous fight for me," Khan said via ESPN. "Stylistically, he's very dangerous, and I'm not going to be looking past it. If I do, I'll have made a mistake. I've looked past fights and made mistakes. It will put me right back where I don't want to be. I have to be focused."

On the other hand, Algieri, who has racked up 20 victories against just one defeat in his professional career, also vowed to be at his best against Khan as he is determined to prove his doubters wrong.

Algieri said that he will prove he deserves to be lined up with the best fighters today. The 31-year-old was manhandled by Manny Pacquiao in November last year, but he wants to show that he is better than what boxing fans saw during his showdown with the Filipino boxing icon.

"I want to show more aspects of who I am and my style," Algieri said. "I think a lot of people misjudged me from my last couple of fights, which happened to be the only ones that were nationally televised. But I haven't showed my full arsenal so it's an exciting time to go out there and have the opportunity to be on the main stage again."

Predictions, Where To Watch & Live Stream

Khan is the better fighter based on their recent performances. While Algieri is determined to prove that he is one of the elite fighters, the Briton will likely run away with an easy victory. Khan is expected to have a lot of opportunity to attack, knowing that Algieri does not possess punching power that is enough to score a knockout.

The Khan-Algieri fight, which is a part of the Premier Boxing Championship Series card, will be shown live on Spike TV starting 9 p.m. ET and will be available through online live stream in the United Kingdom via BoxNation.
