Group C of the Copa America is widely considered the Group of Death of this tournament.

Chile gets a Mexican B-team, a decent but not great Ecuador and a minnow in Bolivia, while Argentina gets an easy group featuring a Luis Suarez-less Uruguay as well as a rebuilding Paraguay and tournament debutante in Jamaica in Group B.

Colombia, Brazil and Venezuela all have to do battle against one another with Peru offering them perhaps the only respite from the other tough matchups.

However, at this point in time it is actually rather easy to pick the favorite to win the group -- Brazil. Here are reasons why.

Defensive Prowess

The 7-1 loss to Germany was a low point for Brazil in possibly all of its history.

After that game, coach Luis Felipe Scolari's head was already gutted and his successor was already being searched for. The successor turned out to be Dunga, a man who had been controversial for his defensive tactics despite getting some results with the nation.

Dunga's defensive tactics became appetizing to the Brazilian federation precisely because it had become so apparent throughout the World Cup that Brazil was not confident on the back end and was a time bomb waiting to explode. It did just that against the Germans.

Since Dunga took over in the summer of 2014, the results have been encouraging. Brazil has won eight straight games and conceded two goals in that span. You read that right -- two goals!

The competition has not been poor either. Colombia, Argentina, Japan, Turkey, Mexico, Chile and Ecuador have all been blanked by the Selecao with only France and Austria able to score one goal each in matches with Brazil.

This team, powered by the likes of Miranda and Filipe Luis look indestructible on the back end. Losing No. 1 goalie Diego Alves is obviously an issue, but Jefferson has impressed as well.

Strong Record against Colombia

Venezuela is solid and could steal the spotlight but let us be honest; this group is about Brazil vs. Colombia.

Despite Colombia's strengthened squad, the reality is that this matchup has favored Brazil throughout history. Brazil has managed 18 victories all time against Colombia with only two losses to speak of; both of those defeats came in 1985 and 1991. In the 14 matches that have followed, Brazil has not lost against Colombia.

Streaks are meant to be broken, but the reality is that Brazil does not need to win against Colombia to do its rival danger. A draw might be enough considering the fire power that Brazil is sporting from players not named Neymar.

Support for Neymar

Let us be honest. The 2014 squad was not only built around Neymar, but depended on him to thrive. In attack Hulk and Oscar were erratic while Fred was an aberration. The midfield behind him was decent but far from fully fleshed.

Now Neymar has the blossoming Willian and Philippe Coutinho to help him in the attack, with Dunga having a number of other options to choose from off the bench.

Willian and Coutinho both had great seasons for their respective clubs and could find themselves giving opposition sides nightmares when they decide to use their efforts to contain Neymar.

Neymar

He scored 40 goals for Barcelona and scored in two Cup finals this season. He also scored in the semifinals against Bayern Munich and has come up huge in big moments. In 2013 he scored in the final of the Confederations Cup to dethrone Spain.

We are talking about a player made for big stages who not only thrives on them, but dominates as well. Neymar is a far better player at this moment than he was in 2013 or last year in the World Cup.

He will be the bane of Group C and help his nation finish first in the group.
