Defending champion Japan and the USA women's team will collide in the final of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup on Sunday at the BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada.

Both teams were impressive in their first six games of the tournament. Japan booked a spot in the final with a 2-1 win against England, while USA ran away with a 2-0 win against top-seeded Germany in the semifinals.

The 2015 Women's World Cup final will be an interesting match as both teams have an axe to grind. It will be a rematch of the 2011 World Cup final, where Japan escaped with come-from-behind victory.

USA looked on their way to becoming world champions in 2011, but they blew several chances and the Japanese capitalized to win the world title. USA strike Abby Wambach knows avenging the defeat will not be easy, but she is using the painful defeat as a motivation heading into their rematch.

"We still have to win. We haven't won anything yet, and we know what that feels like from four years ago," Wambach told reporters via Daily Mail. "It's not a good feeling."

On the other hand, Japan also have plenty of motivation heading into the match. They want to get back at USA, who defeated them in the gold-medal match of the 2012 London Olympics. Japan team captain Aya Miyama said the 2-1 loss to USA in London is still fresh in her mind.

"I never forgot the day we played the final in the Olympics in 2012," Miyama said via Los Angeles Times. "I wanted the gold medal. The bitter feeling I had back then has stayed with me."

Miyama, who has been very steady in the tournament as she has already created 22 scoring chances for her team, said that winning the World Cup is very important for them because they want to restore interest in the sport in Asia.

"When we won the World Cup, people began to take notice of soccer in Asia," Miyama added. "But the popularity has begun to decline. So I hope that by winning this World Cup we can make soccer a part of the Japanese culture, not just a fad."
