Retired NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb is facing another driving under the influence (DUI) allegation more than a year after he was incarcerated for a day due to a DUI citation in December 2013.

The quarterback, who had his stellar seasons in the league while a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, was arrested in Arizona by Gilbert officers on June 28, on suspicion of DUI, ESPN reported.

Citing the documents prepared by the authorities, ESPN added that the player looked "impaired" and his vehicle had a rear-end collision with a car "driven by the wife of a Gila River tribal police officer."

McNabb talked to the Gilbert policemen and said that he was on his way home after spending time in a sports bar. The player then denied having anything to drink despite officers noticing his "bloodshot" eyes and "slurred" speech. McNabb claimed that he had a cold the night he was stopped, and that he was taking cough syrup and two cough drops.

The police officers proceeded to observe the athlete, who also played for the Washington Redskins and the Minnesota Vikings, for DUI signs.

The report indicated that he had "six signs of impairment" after performing a series of tests done by the officers. The player "was not able to stand without visibly swaying back and forth and side to side in a rotational pattern."

The ex-football player then "refused" additional tests but allowed for a sample of his blood to be extracted for further analysis, noted AZCentral.com. The blood sample was transported to the Mesa Police Crime Lab for testing. The news outlet added that the player was then escorted back to his home and his personal items, including money worth $787, were returned to McNabb.

McNabb had an impressive career in the league where he played for 13 seasons as the great quarterback who led the Eagles to four consecutive NFC Championship games beginning 2001, and a Super Bowl appearance in 2005.
