Taylor Swift became the latest star to claim the most followers on Instagram on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old "Shake It Off" singer tops the list of popular people on the photo-sharing app, according to Reuters. Instagram released the list of its most followed users this week for the company's fifth anniversary.

Swift boasts the most followers with 49.6 million. Close behind in second place is reality star Kim Kardashian with 48.1 million followers, and in third is Beyonce with 47.2 million followers. Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande have 45.9 million and 44.6 million fans, respectively.

"The type of content we see from these people is authentic and often times really fun," said Charles Porch, head of global creative programs at Instagram. "It's a view people haven't really had before, especially in real time."

Swift is known for posting videos of her cats, which garner a lot of likes on the photo-sharing site. However, some of her most liked photos are those in which she appears alongside boyfriend and Scottish DJ Calvin Harris. Another popular photo featured the singer with flowers she was given by rapper Kanye West. Swift's most popular posts have garnered about 2.5 million likes from her fans.

Kardashian, 34, who is often acknowledged as "queen of the selfie," likes to share photos from her fashion and beauty empire.

Meanwhile, since Beyonce's recent abstention from interviews, the star has instead used Instagram to share intimate moments from her life, such as her family's recent vacation.

The man with the most followers on Instagram continues to be Justin Bieber with 40 million fans.

Surprisingly, all of these celebrities have more followers than President Barack Obama, who only has a measly 4.7 million followers.

In order to generate the list of Instagram's most followed people, the company disregarded its own Instagram account, which has 130 million followers.
