Taylor Swift and Ryan Adams recently came together to discuss the pop singer's "1989" album and Adams' own rendition of it.

Adams, 40, interviewed the 25-year-old singer for GQ magazine, according to Rolling Stone. Some of the topics the pair discussed were songwriting, Siri and writer's block, among other things.

During the interview, Swift explained to Adams how she interpreted his version of her 2014 hit album.

"You know when actors say a line, they say a sentence, but they say it with different emphasis on different words and they completely change it? That's what you did with my album," Swift told Adams.

Swift also discussed how she perceived Adams' take on her song "All You Had to Do Was Stay" compared to her own.

"When you take a song like 'All You Had to Do Was Stay,' my version of it is [hair flip] 'All you had to do was stay," Swift said. "Sorry about it. I don't miss you, but now you're back.' Yours is like, 'All you had to do was stay. You broke my heart. That's all you had to do.'"

When the conversation turned to methods for dealing with writer's block, Adams said whenever he can't write he puts on a Smiths record. He explained, "It's kind of like if my songwriting was like an iPhone, it recharges it in five minutes." Swift added that a lot of her inspiration for lyrics on "1989" was taken from John Hughes films.

Swift released her fifth studio album, "!989," on Oct. 27, 2014. The album produced the singles "Shake It Off," "Blank Space," "Style," "Bad Blood" and "Wildest Dreams," and it topped the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.

Adams' covers album of Swift's "1989" was released on Sept. 21. The offering debuted at No. 7 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.
