A custom ROM based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update has been released for the Samsung Galaxy S5. Revolution S5 firmware is now available for the 2014 flagship device.

A post from Team Android detailed the proper steps on how to install Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update via the Revolution S5 custom ROM. Accordingly, the firmware is available for the Galaxy S5 bearing the model number SM-G900F.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 was first released in the market on April 2014. At launch, it came with Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Officially, it can now be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, according to GSM Arena.

However, those who are eyeing to experience a more advanced Android Lollipop OS can use the Revolution S5 custom ROM. Based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, the firmware s packed with features which mostly are a port from the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Team Android explained.

Though it is an unofficial firmware release compatible for the Samsung Galaxy S5, users can still expect a fast and smooth performance from the Revolution S5 custom ROM. But users are still expected to take extra precautions when they proceed to install the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Revolution S5 custom ROM on their Samsung Galaxy S5.

Users should know that installing a custom ROM will automatically void the warranties available for the device. And also, users should be aware that there are important requirements to meet first before the actual installation procedures commence.

The Revolution S5 ROM based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update should only be installed to SM-G900F model. To check, users can navigate to Settings > About Phone > Model Number.

Another requirement before installing the firmware is a recovery tool to make the backup for all the essential data and settings stored on the Samsung Galaxy S5. ClockWorkMod Recovery or CWM and the TeamWin Recovery Project or TWRP are two of the highly-recommended recovery tools available.
