Nicki Minaj is featured in the first trailer released for "Barbershop: The Next Cut."

The 32-year-old female rapper and actress is one of the new additions to the cast of the follow-up film, according to Rap-Up.

It was 13 years ago when the original "Barbershop" film was released. Cast members from the first film returning for this upcoming one include Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer, Anthony Anderson and Eve. New additions other than Minaj include Common and Tyga.

"Whatever suggestions Cedric and Cube had -- whether it was for me or any newcomer to the movie -- they were always about making the movie better," director Malcolm D. Lee said to EW.

"I really appreciated, and I think Nicki did too. She's a star in her own right. Here she is part of an ensemble, but she fell right in line with how we were going to make this movie and make it as good as we can."

Minaj's plays the role of feisty hairdresser Draya and is the rival to Eve's character Terri.

The first two films, 2002's "Barbershop" and 2004's "Barbershop 2: Back in Business" both made a combined $140 million worldwide.

Minaj took home two honors at the 2015 American Music Awards on Sunday night. She snagged the award for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album for "The Pinkprint." She was also nominated for Artist of the Year but lost to One Direction. Other artists nominated for Artist of the Year included Luke Bryan, Ariana Grande, Maroon 5, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Taylor Swift, Meghan Trainor and The Weeknd.

Minaj released her third studio album, "The Pinkprint," on Dec. 12, 2014. This album produced the singles "Pills N Potions," "Anaconda," "Only," "Bed of Lies," "Truffle Butter," "The Night Is Still Young" and "Trini Dem Girls."

"Barbershop: The Next Cut" will be released in theaters on Friday, April 15, 2016.
