Fans of "The Vampire Diaries" can expect another emotionally gripping episode as Sheriff Liz Forbes will be laid to rest and Bonnie will return to Mystic Falls on Thursday.

Last week's episode of "The Vampire Diaries," titled "Stay," was filled with highs and lows as Stefan and Caroline finally shared a kiss, Caroline loss her mother to cancer and Jeremy said goodbye to Mystic Falls, reports Den of Geek.

To the delight of "Steroline" fans, Stefan and Caroline engaged in a romantic and steamy kiss against the sunset. However, Caroline was unable to relish the moment since her mom, Sheriff Liz Forbes, died shortly thereafter.

It was also revealed that Jeremy will not be leaving town to go to art school after all. Instead, he's leaving in order to work for Alaric and hunt down vampires all over the country.

"It was either draw or kill some stuff, and I would rather kill some stuff," actor Steven R. McQueen explained to a group of reporters after an advance screening of the episode, reports E! News.

According to executive producer Caroline Dries, turning Jeremy into "an artist would almost feel like he's settling." Instead, having him become a vampire hunter was like "his destiny. That's what he's good at," she said.

In the upcoming episode, which is entitled "Let Her Go," Caroline is going to attempt to cope with her mother's tragic death by keeping busy while she preps for her funeral.

The CW also released a video clip that shows Caroline confessing to Elena that she kissed her ex-boyfriend, Stefan.

In addition, Plec teased that TV viewers will "have to wait and see" if Stefan and Caroline's relationship will evolve into something more following their passionate make-out session.

"That's the thing, what's the first conversation you have after your first kiss? And right now something pretty dramatic has happened, so the next episode is about judging what and when and how that first conversation is going to go," said the EP.

Plec went on to reveal that Caroline and Damon will have the toughest time dealing with Liz's death.

"The two people carrying the most weight in the next episode are Caroline, obviously, and Damon," Plec said. "When all is said and done, Liz was like a surrogate mother and a best friend to him. In the next episode, he has been tasked with the burden of writing a eulogy, to stand in front of the entire town and honor his friend. But he's got a line where he's like, 'This is ridiculous. It's making me be a nice person, and I'm not a nice person. Liz is laughing at me from beyond the grave.'"

In the meantime, Damon will face an internal struggle when he tries to write Liz's eulogy.

"He's struggling with 'Hero Damon' as always," Plec said. "He wants to do right by his friend, he wants to fix a mistake he made in the past in regards to his mother [and missing his mother's final moments], but it's putting him outside his comfort zone in a way that's really messing with his head."

Caroline and Damon won't be the only people affected by the Sheriff's death.

"Her death is definitely going to put a lot of people on new paths and make certain choices about who they're going to be and what kind of person they want to be and what they want to do with their lives," Plec teased. "Next week's episode, we like to hit on the ordinary business of dying and death. There is so much emotion attached to it and there are so many logistics attached to it from planning the funeral to picking out flower arrangements. We've enjoyed exploring that. It's surprisingly emotional and we wanted to make sure we captured all those moments."

At the end of the episode, Bonnie Bennett will finally return home, reports TV Guide.

"Her timing comes at a really good point ... for the other characters [as] she shows up right when they need a boost of friend energy," said Dries.

Although Plec described the long-awaited reunion as "beautiful," it also marks the beginning of more trying times.

"Bonnie is going to come back having the scars of what she went through and the post-traumatic stress of having no one to talk to," Dries says. "She'll be dealing with the psychological ramifications, [which is] not something she'll be advertising."

Season 6, Episode 14 of "The Vampire Diaries," titled "Let Her Go," will air Thursday, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
