The Feb. 25 episode of "Modern Family" will have a common theme: Apple. The show will utilize iPhones and iPads to shoot the entire episode.

Yahoo Tech reports that in the episode titled "Connection Lost," the family will lose their daughter Haley. In order to locate her, they will rely on Apple products, and the family will communicate with each other using iPhones and iPads. The family will call each other, send texts and use FaceTime  to keep each other updated as they search for the missing Haley.

Besides using these Apple products to communicate, the actors in the show will also use them to record the episode.

"Everything was shot on the iPhone 6 or new iPads, with one or two small scenes shot using MacBook Pros," Steve Levitan, "Modern Family" co-creator and executive producer, told The New York Times.

It was difficult to shoot the scenes using the Apple devices, the show's writers and editors said. Filming had to take part on up to three sets at the same time, which was difficult.

In addition, the actors were not able to focus on their lines and cues from the crew while holding the devices. To solve this problem, crew members held the phones for the actors, and the actors held their arms up to make it look like they were holding the phones.

"Connection Lost" begins with Claire Dunphy being shown on her laptop screen at the airport. She has recently got into an argument with Haley, and now Haley is lost.

Quickly, Claire's screen is bombarded with texts, FaceTime video chats and e-mails from the rest of the family. The rest of the episode follows in the same manner with communication being done only through digital means.

"I have two daughters at college, and we do a lot of FaceTiming," Levitan, said at a Q&A session last week on the Fox studio backlot when asked about the episode's inspiration. "One day I was on my computer, and I had some emails open, and some websites, and then my daughter showed up. But I couldn't only see her, but I could see me."
