Wednesday’s chance to win big money playing Powerball is here.

The grand prize is currently at $145 million, with a cash value of $88 million.

Last Saturday's winning numbers were 13, 27, 33, 47, 68 and 13. There were regular 704,084 winners, and $8,216,343 in non-jackpot money was won.

There are actually nine ways to play Powerball. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 293 million. The odds of simply doubling your money on a $2 ticket are 1 in 38.

A homeless man in Colorado has just won enough money playing the lottery to get himself off the streets and back to his family.

As KFOR News reports, Michael Engfors, 60, lost his business and ended up getting a divorce after struggling with alcoholism. Despite his painful setbacks, the man never lost hope that one day he would overcome his hardships.

All his faith seems to have paid off. After Engfors decided to purchase $10 worth of lottery tickets, he soon realized that he won $500,000. Engfors had been homeless for the past six years.

Jeremy Kowalis, a worker at the Aspen Homeless Shelter, expressed joy that Engfors could now afford to take care of himself.

“Out of all the people, especially in Aspen, Colorado, that could win half-a-million dollars, it couldn’t happen to a better type of person,” Kowalis said. “I don’t think he normally spends $10 a day on a lottery ticket. But he did that day, and it sure paid off.”

Despite having just come into major money, Engfors still spent his first night as a lottery winner sleeping on the floor of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church.

When Kowalis asked Engfors what he was going to do with his money, the homeless man said that he really wanted to reconnect with his daughter, whom he had not seen in over 20 years.

“He’s interested in trying to find out how to go about reaching her and reconnecting with her, now that he’s got a little bit more means to do so,” Kowalis added.
