In the next episode of "Homeland," Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) will be forced to choose between protecting someone she loves and saving the lives of countless others.

In the trailer for the fifth season's eleventh episode, "The Man in Damascus," Carrie debates waking an unconscious Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) in order to stop an impending terrorist attack on Berlin.

In the last episode, Carrie reunited with her mentor Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) in order to track down Quinn to a terrorist cell. Unfortunately, when they found him, he was barely clinging to life.

Carrie needs Quinn to reveal where the terrorists plan to release sarin gas, but the doctor warns that waking him could cause massive seizures or cerebral hemorrhaging.

It's a terrible dilemma, but the promo does spoil things a bit, as it's clear Carrie takes the risk in waking him up. As Quinn begins to shake and spit up blood, we're left wondering if the gamble paid off.

The clip also shows Carrie following a lead to an apartment, apparently belonging to the cousin of one of the jihadis. She orders a forensic team to check for evidence.

Meanwhile, Saul heads to the airport, believing it to be a prime target for the terrorist strike.

Of course, Allison (Miranda Otto) will be involved, as the team comes closer to discovering her identity as a mole.

"Homeland" is a political thriller series developed by Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, based on the Israeli television show "Hatufim" (Prisoners of War) created by Gideon Raff.

The series follows former CIA officer Carrie, a bipolar woman working for a private security firm in Berlin.

The next episode of Homeland will air Sunday, Dec. 13 at 9 p.m. ET on Showtime. Watch the promo below!
