Max-Hervé George Accelerates SWI Group's AI Infrastructure Push with €20 Billion Data Centre Platform

London / Geneva – June 2025 — Max-Hervé George's SWI Group has unveiled the next major milestone in its push into AI infrastructure, announcing the development of a 330MW hyperscale data centre in Cambridgeshire, UK, alongside the rebranding of its pan-European data platform as AiOnX.
The new facility, located at Sutton-in-the-Isle between Cambridge and Peterborough, is set to become one of the largest data centres in the UK, with a strategic position targeting hyperscalers and cloud operators in the region's "Golden Triangle" of Cambridge, Oxford, and London.
"When we first got involved with data centres six years ago, we could see the demand for computing was going to grow dramatically—but the explosion in the growth of AI has taken even us by surprise," said Max-Hervé George, Chairman and Co-CEO of SWI Group. "We've been unwavering in our goal to build one of Europe's most valuable data centre groups."
The UK project joins four other hyperscale sites—in Ireland, Denmark, Spain, and Italy—already under development, bringing the platform's total planned capacity to 2GW. Collectively, the five assets represent an estimated €20 billion in infrastructure investment, positioning AiOnX as one of Europe's largest data centre owners by 2030.

A Focus on Scale, Sovereignty, and Strategic Location
The AiOnX platform is designed to serve the next generation of computing needs across AI, cloud services, and digital sovereignty, with a focus on:
- Hyperscale and Tier I-ready facilities
- Energy-efficient design and renewable integration
- Strategic geographic hubs for latency-sensitive applications
SWI Group's approach combines real assets experience with long-term capital strategy, making it one of the few independent players able to compete at this scale in a market dominated by tech giants and infrastructure conglomerates.
Backed by Institutional Capital
To accelerate the expansion, SWI's Stoneweg Europe Stapled Trust also announced a €50 million minority investment in AiOnX (formerly known as IDC).
"We're entering a phase where data centres are not just real estate—they are the backbone of economic productivity," said George. "AiOnX is how we're responding to the infrastructure gap that AI is opening across Europe."
Looking Ahead
With construction on the Cambridgeshire site slated to begin in the coming quarters, and momentum building across other strategic locations, SWI Group is now positioned as one of the most ambitious infrastructure players in Europe's AI economy.
By 2030, AiOnX's network of 2GW+ capacity is expected to anchor sovereign compute, large language model training, and cloud deployment for some of the world's most demanding operators.
