The game developer of Rock Band 4 provided details about the upcoming updates for the game. Harmonix also discussed one of the most requested features for the game, the online multiplayer.

According to the Harmonix blog post, online multiplayer for Rock Band 4 is "part of a much bigger conversation." Discussing this possible game mode, the developer shared that "it is a big deal given the amount of different combinations of player (four potential instruments, different difficulties, song affinities between players, etc)."

The post further noted that for Rock Band 4 online multiplayer to offer a fun, stable experience, it will need lots of testing and technical back end work. Harmonix shared that making an online multiplayer game happen is on the table, but they are not yet sure where it falls in their roadmap.

Since their process involves listening to gamer insights and pieces of advice, Rock Band 4's developer said that they will be sending out a survey about the online multiplayer. The feedback will help them understand what the gamers want and consequently guide their efforts to develop the functionality.

Aside from the update regarding Rock Band 4's online multiplayer mode, Harmonix, as cited on IGN, also shared that the most requested game features will be available for free next year. These include set lists and practice mode.

In addition to these favorite features, there are also new functionalities coming to Rock Band 4. Accordingly, gamers can expect the Taunt system to be among these new game features and ideas.

IGN's post also noted the statement of Rock Band 4's product manager, Daniel Sussman, who shared that Harmonix is working on features such as providing Xbox One support for ION drums. Meanwhile, for January 2016, Rock Band 4 will get an update that is "modest in scope" compared to this month's game update.

The December update arrived last week, bringing in several features such as Brutal Mode and adjustable "Breakneck" speed. Upon updating, players will be able to export songs from Rock Band 3.

Meanwhile, according to Harmonix post, the patch for next month will focus on improved stability and performance. Fixes on leaderboard issues will also be part of the January patch.
