At the beginning of the 2013-14 campaign, the Brooklyn Nets slipped away from contention in a hurry.

Fast forward to the end of 2014, the team somehow magically turned things around, and on Tuesday became the only squad to sweep the Miami Heat -- in exciting fashion, nonetheless.

On a night when "King James" was emblazoned in the back of LeBron's jersey, the Nets were unfazed. As the clock ticked down to 2 seconds, James tried to save the day for his team -- down 88-87 at the time -- but the walk-off dunk attempt was denied when rookie Mason Plumlee blocked the shot. LeBron and the Heat, upset that there was no foul call, were not happy, but the scoreboard at the buzzer said it all. The Heat were swept in the four competitions against a resurging Heat squad that clawed back from rock bottom.

What made the whole turn of events even more surprising was not just the fact that LeBron is arguably the best player in the game but the fact that a rookie stuffed him, nonetheless.

"They're a good team," Erik Spoelstra said. "They're one of the hotter teams since All-Star break. Every single one of these games, however you want to slice it, however you get to that point, there are plays to be made in the fourth quarter. And for whatever reason, they've made more plays."

Nets coach Jason Kidd, who quite literally went from the court to the bench this past offseason after retiring from his playing career, was recently named coach of the month for the second time in his rookie coaching season.
