Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) will face a lot more drama, including a possible third love interest, when the hit series "Jane the Virgin" returns to The CW next year.

During the midseason finale, Jane found herself still at odds with the father of her child, Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni), and her ex-fiancé, Michael Cordero (Brett Dier). Jane and Rafael bumped heads throughout most of the episode after she discovered that he was involved in getting Michael fired from his job and that he had been lying to her about the ordeal for months, reports The New York Times.

However, the couple was able to sort out their feelings during a counselling session. That's when Rafael admited that he's hurt that Jane forgot that Sin Rostro is responsible for his father's murder. Jane also realized that she doesn't like to be lied to since lying triggers all of the hurt and sadness she experienced as a child growing up without her father. Eventually, Jane and Rafael were able to make peace.

Meanwhile, it became evident that she still has strong feelings for Michael after her heart melted when he fixed the Villanueva family's Christmas topper.

A trailer video for the next episode, "Chapter Thirty-One," reveals that there will be more drama in store for Jane and her family after her grandfather leaves her grandmother for another man.

"Your grandfather is gay and he left me for a man," says Alba (Ivonne Coll) in the teaser video.

Jane's love life may also take another drastic turn when she meets an attractive computer whiz named Dax, who is described as "genius techie and hipster skateboarder," reports TVLine. The new guy, who will be played by "Scream Queens" star Diego Boneta, will end up "surprising" Jane "in more ways than one."

Season 2, Episode 9 of "Jane the Virgin" will premiere on Monday, Jan. 25 on The CW.
